Behind the Scenes

1/21/10
We had our first meeting after school to set up our network teams and start preparing for our first newscast. There were over 30 students at the meeting and everyone had many great ideas to share!  It was awesome to see everyone so excited about the project and I know these kids are going to do great things!

Our target date for our first newscast is the week of February 8th!  We will be providing our newscasts on the school server for the time being so that teachers can view them in their classrooms. However, we plan to showcase their productions on this website after getting approval to share student videos in a public forum. Watch the iDuck Network Promo Advertisement

The Tech Team met during lunch today to discuss how they will coordinate our tech resources to help with the project.  The students had a chance to practice using our new digital video cameras and our new lighting system!  Special thanks to Ted Connolly for his donations of a camera and the lights as well as for sharing his time to help us set up the lights!

The Design Team met today during lunch to discuss their visions for the studio. Mrs. Sennett's husband has agreed to build our anchor desk (Thanks, Shane!) and one of our grandparents (Thanks, Karen!) has provided the fabric for the background curtains and a cover for the desk. The team also picked out a set of stools for the studio and a special "iDuck Network" banner - both of which have been ordered. We hope to create our studio early next week. The design team also worked on finishing the special "media" passes for all the iDuck crew members. They will use the passes for lunch meetings as well as wear them when they are on location for iDuck projects.

Our news team will meet tomorrow to start planning the first newscast. They will work with the "Special Features" and "Sports" teams over the next week to help them develop their segments. Ted and I also have a special project for our "Advertising" team to create commercials. We have a lot to do in the next couple weeks, but the kids are ready for the challenge!

The "News" and "Special Features" teams met yesterday during lunch to outline the material for the first newscast. Our studio chairs arrived today as well as our iDuck Network banner. We hope to put together the studio next week and start practicing for our broadcasts. Our "Advertising" team will be busy next week creating their first commerical.

2/2/10
Our new studio is almost finished! We have the lights set up and we did some practicing taping today with the kids learning their roles as anchors, directors, or the tech team with the cameras and lights. Once we receive our tablecloth for the anchor desk, we'll be ready for our first show.  Our news team is busy finalizing the program and our tech team is getting ready to tape our first news cast on Friday.  We hope to have it available online early next week!

2/5/10
The iDuck team stayed after school on Friday to produce their first show! They did a great job and will be editing the clips to put together the news cast in the hopes of showcasing it on Tuesday morning on our website!

2/8/10
Our first broadcast is finished and will be uploaded soon to the website!

2/11/10
The response to our first newscast has been outstanding!  Thanks for all of the e-mails and calls!  The kids loved the support and are even more energized to get their next newscast completed. The iDuck Team #2 will be taping most of the second show today and will finish editing it on Monday. The kids have a new segment to feature and have been spiffing up their video clips with music and animations. Mr. Caton also recorded some new music of the JH band for us to use!

2/15/10
Our second broadcast is completed and will be available online soon!  Although we've made some improvements, we still have some issues to work out, such as making sure everyone talks loud enough when they are taped. The kids also have some ideas to help make editing easier and ensure that our final product looks professional.  They also have ideas possible new features to add in the next few weeks.

2/19/10
The students stayed after school to tape the third broadcast. After Cameron edits the clips to create the final newscast, it will be uploaded to our website.

2/26/10
Another newscast has been taped and edited!  We hope to have it online on Monday afternoon for all of you to enjoy! The newscast will include our first commercial as well as a video to get everyone ready for ISATs!

3/6/10
We've officially completed our fifth newscast!  The students taped the segments on Thursday and Friday. Cameron and I stayed late on Friday to edit the clips together and hope to upload it to the website this weekend. We'll also be moving to our domain name - iducknetwork.com!
